Moriarty
Summary:
Sherlock Holmes is dead.
Days after Holmes and his arch-enemy Moriarty fall to their doom at the Reichenbach Falls, Pinkerton agent Frederick Chase arrives in Europe from New York. The death of Moriarty has created a poisonous vacuum which has been swiftly filled by a fiendish new criminal mastermind who has risen to take his place.
Ably assisted by Inspector Athelney Jones of Scotland Yard, a devoted student of Holmes’s methods of investigation and deduction, Frederick Chase must forge a path through the darkest corners of the capital to shine light on this shadowy figure, a man much feared but seldom seen, a man determined to engulf London in a tide of murder and menace.
Group Reviews/Comments:
Still trying to decide if I liked it or not! There was a lot that didn’t make sense to me–until the end!
Reluctant thumbs up. Wasn’t really a mystery.
I really liked it. Well written. I didn’t figure it out. Very clever. I liked how Moriarty had “standards.”
I really liked it. I am a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes. I liked how pieces of the Sherlock Holmes canon were woven into the story. I loved how the author turned everything around.
I loved this. Big Sherlock fan. Lots of clues along the way; I felt there were enough clues given to us as readers to figure it out.
We were inundated with clues and red herrings. I didn’t figure it out!
Big Holmes fan. Mid-thumbs up. Writing was good. But, I was bored. Not enough action. Felt like it was a “fake” Sherlock Holmes. Trying too hard. It was like a “meatless meatball.”
It was droll and tedious. Could have used a better editor. Drove me crazy, I kept falling asleep! I knew that strings were being pulled but I never got it! Too many characters.
I do not like this author. He needs a better editor. But, I liked this one better than all the rest of his. I liked when the Scotland Yard detectives “dished” about Sherlock.
I am a HUGE Holmes fan and a Horowitz fan. This is my least favorite of his.
I realized I am as naive as Watson! I swallowed it all!
Great fun. Loved the references to past cases and detectives. I knew we were being teased and tricked–but I still was surprised at the end!
