Group Reviews/Comments:

The worst book of the year! Bland story. Bland people you couldn’t tell apart. Could have edited out the entire beginning. And the ending felt tacked on. Pages of boring family discussions. Mystery non-existent. Cardboard cutout detective.

Sorely disappointing. Mystery doesn’t start until page 164! The ending made no sense at all. French’s writing is lovely but what a terrible book.

I gave up. I loved her other books but nothing interesting here. So disappointing.

Tried to listen to it as audio since I gave up twice trying to read it. I really wanted to like this but I didn’t.

Way too long. Ok, but my least favorite Tana French. Family drama, not a mystery.

I liked it. With Tana French you just go along for the ride. I found the different points of view compelling. I was drawn into it. But I didn’t like the ending.
