It was silly, but I enjoyed listening to it. I found the music part fascinating. Liked Gethsemane character and the main characters of the town.

Nice to see strong women of color in a mystery. I enjoyed it. I was a fun murder! I liked the friendship between Gethsemane and the ghost.

I really liked this book. Good sense of place. I loved that it was full of music. I also loved all the whiskey in it! The mystery was kind of over the top though.

I enjoyed it. A solid cozy. Gave a good “meta-nod” to British mysteries with lots of murders in a small town.

Not much of a cozy. Almost nothing I liked about this book. Gethsemane was annoying and grating. She was very hard to believe, condescending to other characters.

I really disliked this book. Poor sense of place. Supernatural elements followed no rhyme or reason. Gethsemane incredibly annoying. Hated the ghost. No point in making her a teacher, we never really see her teach. Predictable.

I had a really hard time with this book. Writing was okay, but supernatural element was not done well. Lots of it so obvious. I was so mad at how the end left us hanging–that I read the next one!

Didn’t like how the book ended. Her working as a teacher in this small town was unbelievable. The killer was unbelievable. I did like the part about music.

I liked that we got to follow the progression of the mystery, but it was easy to figure out. I liked the writing; pleasant, easy read.

I really liked it. Related to her southern roots. Ending pissed me off–what a cliffhanger! So I read the next one! I really understood where the main character was coming from.

Big problems with the plot. Needed a better editor. Lots of potential with the ghost and Gethsemane. But I still enjoyed it.

I found it a fun read. Light and kind of silly. Loved the music part. So irritated by the cliffhanger ending. It made me read the second book!

I liked how the ghost’s colored orbs were tied to emotions. Didn’t like how some of the facts were lining up.

I liked Gethsemane; I’d want to be friends with her. This helped me overlook some of the gaps in the story. So many plot holes–but it was fun.
