I struggled with this book. I do like how the author was able to sprinkle in cultural references. But a clunky introduction of characters. Bounced around a lot. Too many coincidences. Stuff thrown in that wasn’t needed. I wish there was more with Emma.

So many violent and graphic scenes and references. I had to stop reading.

Really enjoying it. A lot of threads at first but all got tied together.

I really liked it. The mystery was sophisticated and I liked how everything tied together in the end. The sense of place was very strong. I learned a lot about Ghana.

I am really liking it. I really like Emma. I’m enjoying reading about the culture.

Engaging. I liked Emma and Bruno, and Emma’s boss. Felt like a thriller. Didn’t see any good detective skills in Emma. Interesting to see if she develops in the future novels.
