The third book in the Aaron Falk series

I really liked it. Cross between a cozy and a procedural. I figured it out pretty immediately-the “who” not the “how.” I liked the characters and setting. Mostly liked the mystery.

The author did a good job telling us what we needed to know without having to read earlier books in series. Falk is a very likeable character. I really enjoyed this book; I liked the pacing. I didn’t guess the mystery. I liked Falk’s emotional journey.

There was value of community. People who left the community came to a bad end. I didn’t feel like I needed to have read the others in the series to enjoy this. I did find the need to skip to the end!

I think it was well written.

A little dark but I liked it. I enjoyed the audio book more than reading. Pacing was slow though.

I love her [Harper’s] writing. I don’t care how plausible it is, I just love how she writes. She flushes out characters so well. I can put myself there. She was able to draw me up short as to how it happened. Not a slow pace to me. Beautiful how she describes the place. Mystery kept me going.

Loved the story and the detective work, but slow for me. I kept waiting for some clue to be found. Overall I liked the story and how Falk put things together. I liked the atmosphere, the place and characters.
