A well put together story with a likable main character. A sad story with a great “triple twist” ending! Great sense of place, many liked the legalistic aspects of the case and how this blended with a cold case and a police procedural. Also mentioned was the use of Tracy’s science background and how it helped her save herself in the end–rather than being rescued.

Pretty much everyone commented on how well a male author captured a female perspective. Tracy was believable, interesting and relatable.

The one thumbs down felt the story dragged, especially the last 100 pages, and that the ending was problematic. There was a clue that should have been investigated that wasn’t-this combined with the desire to protect adult Tracy now (and not just young Tracy) really infuriated this reader. Also, too many flashbacks–helped flesh out the characters but cumbersome for the reader.
