Evil in Small Places
By Lucy Foley
[1st story in the short story collection Marple: Twelve New Mysteries]
Group Comments:
Quick to the reveal.
Well written but I didn’t find it interesting.
Similar to a Marple mystery but a little short.
Characters were all distinct.
I liked the moral of the story, but it was too short; not enough given to guess the end.
Too quick. I didn’t enjoy it.
I liked the writing. But relied too much on deus ex machina.
I liked the title but the plot was predictable.
Glad it was short. Well written but too convenient.
Felt “Marple-esque”
I liked it but too contrived. Very Christie-esque.
I liked that it was short, would have liked more of the author’s voice rather than trying to mimic Christie.
