The first book in the Detective Harriet Foster series

A little slow to start but I liked the detective and good procedural. Some humor too.

I really liked it. I was really drawn into it. Suspense was really good. Author got to me! Good story.

Narrator was ‘meh.’ I thought the background of the twins was tedious and the Foster’s background tedious. I love Tracy Clark but this was lacking the humor of her other series. But a strong procedural. I liked the strong female chief. Tight story but Foster needs more development.

I don’t always like procedurals but this was compelling. Too much back story. Easy to guess who it was, but not clear what triggered the start of the killings. I guessed a lot. The doctor was interesting.

Foster is a great character. I also like the Li character and I like her and Foster together. I did know who it was. I Liked the reaction of the dog. I liked the ending.

Really enjoyed it. Negative: enough with the serial killers of women. And–the inner turmoil of the detective–we’ve heard this before. But, it was all really about the woman. Turned a lot on its head after all.

Depth and variety of female characters I enjoyed. Liked the insight into psychopathology.

Unsure about the multiple points of view in the audio version. Really liked Foster and police station dynamics.
