Voting Process

We vote remotely.
We use Google Forms. You will get a link at least a few days before the voting starts.

You will have 4 days to cast your votes.
The poll is usually open sometime during the third week of November. That way I’ll have enough time to contact individuals if there are problems or if I have questions and before the November meetup.

If there is a tie we will do a tie breaker at the November Meetup.

Votes will be weighted based on your attendance.
Your attendance is tracked by your RSVPs on Meetup, which I update for no-shows, etc. If you attended but forgot to RSVP I track that and have updated the record to include all your attendance.

0 votes: less than 4 meetups. No votes but can make suggestions for the list.
2 votes: 4-10 meetings
4 votes: 11-20
6 votes: 21-30
7 votes: 31-40
8 votes: 41-50
9 votes: 51-60
12 votes: greater than 60 meetings

You can use your allotted number of votes to vote for individual books but you can also use your votes to vote multiple times for the same book.

An updated list of how many votes each member gets is posted in October of each year.

Casting multiple votes for one title
If you really want a certain title to make it onto the list, you may choose to cast more than one vote for the same title. To do this, you will have to re-enter the system as many times as you want to vote for that particular title.

(Sorry about this–it’s the only way to do it with this voting system online).

The books get ranked by number of votes.
A tie breaker round will be held at our November meetup if necessary.  You must be present at this meetup to vote in the tie breaker round.

When voting is done, we will have 24 titles, ranked in order of popularity.
