Rich characterization. Really enjoyed reading about this segment of the population.

Loved Tal’s voice but seemed weak-which makes it hard to root for him. Whiny. Too long. Can’t hold suspense for that long.

More an American novel but not a mystery.

Story draws you in.

Intricately woven. Wonderfully written piece of literature. Terrible mystery.

Interesting lens into conservative African American community.

Could have cut about 150 pages but I did enjoy reading it. I liked how it started right in without a whole lot of build up. So rooted in reality until the end.

So long-but I kept reading it.

Quality of writing so good. But just too long.

Extensive commentary and inner dialogue took away from the flow of the narrative. Yet–still a compelling read and a fascinating glimpse into the professional, upper middle and upper class conservative black America.
