Broken Places
I really enjoyed this. Believable characters and story lines. Would have liked more about Farraday. I liked the writing. Descriptions were good but not overly detailed.
Really liked Cass and how relentless she was. I loved the side characters. Mystery moved well.
Liked Cass’ tenacity. Great read.
There were early clues dropped that Cass didn’t follow up on, but her Dad showing up threw her for a loop. I LOVED this book, characters, dialogue…the characters were real personalities. Lots of great details.
Loved Cass’ savvy, intelligence and drive. But–I wanted to see more of the intelligence later on as the action increased. As pacing increased, there was less detecting. I loved the writing. I loved Cass. Just–Cass! Pause and think!
I really liked it. Liked Cass and all the other characters. I liked the humor in it. Slow start but once it got going it was good.
I enjoyed it. Looked forward to picking it up. I did have some problems with it, but very much “first in series” problems. Beginning very choppy. I wanted it to get going sooner. Cass is an interesting character. Characters are well nuanced. Cass going it alone and getting into trouble–that’s who she is–but it got to be too much.
I loved this book. Some problems, but very typical of first time novelist. Strong characters. Felt like it needed one more chapter to tie things up. Felt it could have had a stronger sense of place.
I liked the character development–refreshing and original.
Loved how believable this book was; the procedural aspect, touching on sexism in the workplace. I liked the pace. Liked the blend of professional and personal aspects of Cass.
Great setup for a series. interesting characters with lots of room for development. It moved a bit slow for me, but mostly okay. The only thing I really didn’t like was the ending when Cass went after the bad guy by herself. Obviously she shouldn’t have done that, it was stupid, unprofessional, etc. The ending went on for-ev-er! First he has the upper hand, then she does, then he does, ugh..pages of it! Needed better editing. I enjoyed Cass’ relationship with her ex-partner on the force, Ben. I thought the bad cop Farrady was a bit too much of a parody–the “enemy within” –could have been more subtle. Liked the potential with his new partner, Weber. Liked the side characters Whip, Pouch and Bard. And the introduction of Cass’ father was an interesting touch. Overall this has great promise for a series and I will definitely read the next one!
