Group Comments:

Well and intricately constructed. Lots of moving parts that come together.

Lots of spoilers to classic mysteries. Felt familiar in its structure but then became complicated.

All the tropes made me angry. Well constructed but the characterization not great–fell flat. Didn’t like some of the writer’s choices. Murder was violent and no reflection on that and the characters. The book felt sexist. Nothing was surprising to me. Author didn’t examine the social elements he brought up.

All the other books mentioned–whew–quite a slog to get through! This felt like the author just wanted to talk about his favorite books and writing this was how he did it.

Enjoyable. A mystery for mystery readers.

I enjoyed it. A bit of a wild ride. I didn’t like the characters but I liked the ride!

Not believeable. Retread of other books.

A bit irritating. Just jumping on the unreliable narrator bandwagon. Excellent intro to all the other mystery books you should read.

Intriguing idea. But execution dragged; it was boring and flat. No reflection on issues raised.

Fun read. Not particularly well written but I had low expectations.

Technically interesting and clever. Not very realistic. No sense of place.

A+ for creativity and the journey. But there was a lot that didn’t make sense. Great idea not well executed.

Original, clever premise. Ending was clever too.

There was suspense. Cast of characters small enough that I should have been able to guess who did it!

Perfect amount of content, sass and mystery!
