I’ll Keep You Safe

Could have done without the flashbacks.
Switch in time and perspective confusing. Too much background. Two main characters were awful at the end.
It was terrible. And I love Peter May! Glaringly obvious who did it. Flashbacks terrible and unnecessary. No mystery. We didn’t need the French police officer. Ludicrous red herrings. Absurd that Niamh didn’t know who saved her on the cliffs.
Trite ending. So overused! Maybe fresh 20 years ago, but really? And I hate when the gay characters are all deranged. Switch in perspectives during flashbacks unnecessarily confusing. Motivations unbelievable. Way too much detail. The gangster part–what? Ridiculous. Ending was ludicrous. Sense of place excellent but that’s all it had going for it.
What was the mystery? Rabbit hole tangents . Too much, way too much! The gangster part–ridiculous! The part about Niamh’s studies was SO boring.
Read the first 50% quickly. He writes beautifully. I love that he can describe a place that is so beautifully raw that I want to go there! Like his in depth characters. A good story but not a mystery. French detective part was stupid. The ending was just so stupid in so many places. Peter May blew it in the end.
