Manon Bradshaw Series

By Susie Steiner

I am loving this series. Susie Steiner has created a wonderfully complex world.
Her characters are fully imagined and I just love how Manon is portrayed. She is a really good cop, and a really flawed human being who is trying hard to do the right thing and not always succeeding.

The writing uses quick moments of humor–a turn of phrase, a glimpsed insight, often wry by Manon herself. And the characters who have these moments of insight, often brought on by tragedy, are allowed to grow and change.

The plotting is tight, seemingly irrelevant side notes woven throughout come to have meaning in the light of the discoveries.

I usually don’t like when a cop’s personal life becomes entangled with an investigation but Steiner is a master. Everything fits, everything flows, nothing feels extraneous.

Police procedural with moving family drama, the ending of the second in series shocking!

Update:  September 2020:  just finished the third in series and hope Steiner keeps writing.  Really enjoying this series.
